3D Character Artist (Mid Level)

Job Objectives
Works as a core member of the Character Artist team to create high quality and detailed character assets based on game requirements, designs, and technical capabilities of the gaming platform and product scope. Individual understands anatomy and proportions as it translates to 3D modeling, skeletal rigging, and mesh deformation. Maintains a fundamental understanding of UV coordinate space, texturing, and memory budgets. Takes initiative to learn and adapt to new team practices based on evolving technologies. Can work and thrive in a multidiscipline work atmosphere - often along side an Art Director or Project Lead while under time constraints.

Job Roles and Responsibilities

Designer
Capable of contributing to the creation process and can approach development in a way that emphasizes game play and game mechanics.

Creator
Understands mesh topology and edge loops as it translates to efficient modeling practices for in-game characters, and is experienced building details characters off of conceptual drawings.

Expert
Experienced with proprietary and commercial 3D development tools, middleware applications and processes that benefits game development.

Team Member
Promotes a positive work environment through high personal and performance standards.

Qualifications:
1.Associates Degree in Digital Media, Computer Graphics or Related degree preferred
2.2-3+ Years of directly related experience in gaming or simulation
3.High proficiency using 3D Studio Max, Maya, Softimage, or Lightwave 3D to create detailed characters to scale and accuracy.
4.Proven ability to paint textures to specifications using the latest version of Photoshop or similar programs.
5.Experienced in 3D character development.
6.Performed similar role on at least 1 published game title.
7.Online or DVD of an art portfolio (Required) - This can be work related or personal projects outside of work related activities

1.Willingness to learn, wear multiple hats during a project and flexibility to assume additional responsibilities as needed.
2.High motivation, willingness to grow, and a passion about games/art projects which can be observed through their portfolio.
3.High level of interest in the industry, or their specific niche in general.
